Cost & Pricing
How much does it cost to build a deck in San Diego?+
Most new decks in San Diego run $30 to $70 per square foot installed, so a 300-square-foot deck lands between $9,000 and $21,000. Material is the biggest swing — pressure-treated wood sits at the low end, composite in the middle, and IPE or multi-level builds at the top.
Do you charge for an estimate?+
No. Estimates are free. We measure your space, talk through materials and layout, and hand you a written, itemized price with no obligation to book.
Do you offer financing?+
Yes. We offer financing on qualifying projects so you can spread the cost of a larger deck or full replacement over monthly payments. Ask for options when you get your estimate.
Timeline
How long does it take to build a deck?+
Most decks take 1 to 3 weeks from the start of construction, plus a week or two up front for design and permits. Simple ground-level decks finish faster; multi-level, rooftop and hillside builds take longer.
When can you start?+
Scheduling depends on the season and permit timing, but most projects start within 2 to 4 weeks of signing. Repairs and smaller jobs often start sooner.
Permits & Code
Do I need a permit to build a deck in San Diego?+
Yes, in most cases. San Diego requires a permit for decks over 30 inches above grade, attached decks, and any structural work. We pull the permit and handle inspections for you.
What is SB326 and does it affect me?+
SB326 is a California law requiring inspection of elevated balconies and decks at condos and multi-family buildings every 6 years. If you manage or own one of these, we perform the inspection and any repairs needed to comply.
Do you work with my HOA?+
Yes. We handle HOA submittals and approvals as part of the project, including drawings, material specs and color selections your association requires.
Materials
What is the best decking material for San Diego?+
It depends on your budget and spot. Composite brands like Trex, TimberTech and AZEK are the most popular for their low upkeep, while redwood and IPE suit homeowners who want real wood. Near pools and coastline, capped PVC and aluminum hold up best.
Composite or wood — which should I choose?+
Choose composite if you want to skip staining and sealing and do not mind a higher upfront cost. Choose wood if you want a lower starting price or the natural look of redwood, cedar or IPE and accept refinishing every few years.
How long does a deck last?+
A well-built composite deck lasts 25 to 50 years; a maintained wood deck lasts 15 to 25 years. The frame underneath, when built with proper flashing and hardware, often outlives the boards on top.
Process & Warranty
Are you licensed and insured?+
Yes. We are a licensed and insured San Diego deck contractor, License #1085432. You get liability coverage, workers comp and a written contract on every job.
What warranty do you offer?+
We back every build with a lifetime workmanship warranty for as long as you own your home, on top of the manufacturer warranty that comes with your decking.
Do you clean up when the job is done?+
Yes. Full cleanup and haul-away are included. We remove all debris, sweep the site, and leave your yard ready to use.
